His comments are in direct response to the cynics, me included, who don't believe that. Conventional "wisdom" is that we'll be a military presence in Iraq for years, like South Korea, the Phillipines, Western Europe, etc..
Pat Lang makes his living in military/political affairs, and is a retired Army Colonel, with deep experience in Intelligence in the Middle East. It's heartening to read his thoughts on this.
