Where does an elephant roam? Anywhere it wants.
Here is a piece about using our military, not our policemen, for crowd control. A significant element of our military has just been deployed right here in the U.S.. Do you wonder why Bush ordered that? Police Departments in our cities and towns have been the first responders to crowd control problems for years. Why the need to hand it over to the military now? Could it be because, unlike the local and regional police forces George Bush is their boss? And why not the National Guard? Could it just be because the 50 state governors are in charge of that line of defense, not George Bush?
Among the scenarios being considered as we approach the elections on Nov. 4th is the possibility that the Bush Administration might actually take matters into their own hands if Obama wins, as is widely forecast.
History is full of stories about overthrown governments, palace coups, and the like. One thing they all seem to have in common is the use of the military to solidify the power grab. Bush will be Commander-in-Chief until Jan 20, 2009, leaving him plenty of time to use that authority to declare a state of emergency, suspend the Constitution and enforce that gambit with the military.
Will that military obey Bush if it were to happen? If they didn't who would lead them?
I don't think it's being alarmist to think ahead about such a possibility. Bush/Cheney and Company have exhibited heavy handed, arrogant, my way or the highway behavior for eight years. What is to make them suddenly acquiesce to the will of the voters? They've betrayed, ignored and scoffed at the will of the voters all along.
It's important to acknowledge that these people don't wish to govern, they prefer to rule.
To be forewarned is to be forearmed. Be alert!
