Here are two links to articles in the news today which address the issue of racism as it might affect Barack's chance to be elected.
First is about remarks by Kansas Governor Sebelius .
Second is about comments by CNN's Jack Cafferty.
I have been concerned about this from the beginning of the campaign, and am tempted to agree with Cafferty' s assertion that it helps explain why the polls are so close.
Many years ago I lived and worked in Atlanta, GA during the time Lester Maddox was elected Governor of the State of Georgia. His symbol was an ax handle. He redefined racial prejudice. He won handily.
The curious thing was that it was almost impossible to find anyone who admitted to voting for him. It's not polite to admit to prejudice publicly, but in the privacy of the voting booth _______?
I would very much like to hear from the Voice's readers about this.
