Authenticity, Honesty, Honor

My last post was entitled Authenticity.

Please read this, a link to which is here.

I really wish I could just say, I rest my case, but there are too
many closed minded people who might vote based on what
they chose to believe, not based on reality and facts.

Last night a small town mayor, who has occupied the office
of Governor of Alaska for less than half a term read a speech
which was written for her by her GOP handlers. The only thing
one can say about her is that she is pretty good at making a speech,
even one written by others who coached her to say what she believes
in such a way as to come across as authentic in her support of
GOP talking points, and GOP attacks and sarcasm directed at
the truly authentic, honest and honorable candidates of the
Democratic Party.

If I were a prosecutor seeking the truth I would have liked to rest
my case against her as today's female version of the Music Man, who
cons the locals into believing him, Right Here In River City.

Unfortunately she has been given the stage to con millions of people
into believing her and, also unfortunately, there are many of those
millions who want to and likely will, unless she is exposed as the
con artist she really is.

I am an obscure blogger whose opinions won't be read far and wide.

I do recommend for your enlightenment these more widely read progressive leaning opinions,
columns and blogs. Gail Collins, NYT, Kevin Drum, Mother Jones, The Old New Englander, Blogspot.com, Truth Out, Truth Dig, Politico, Talking Points Memo, Huffington Post, Minstrel Boy, Washington Monthly, James Carroll, Boston Globe. EJ Dionne, WaPo, Roger Cohen, NYT, Michael Kinsley, WaPo, among others.

I also read and recommend regressive leaning sources which include, David Brooks, NYT, The Drudge Report, among a short list of others, who from time to time write as if they are intelligent human beings trying to understand.

I have given up on those whose writings demonstrate that, though they have brains, they have
chosen to use them in support of their prejudices, which requires no risk of being thought of as intelligent. Examples include Charles Krauthammer, all Fox News talking heads, Karl Rove, all Bushes, all Bush Cabinet member, one possible exception being SecDef Gates.

I ask you please to check out your gut feeling about the Music Man factor when you listen to what all of these people are preaching to you; those on the progressive list, those on the regressive list and those on the prejudicial list.
