McCain/Palin: The Costume Party Ticket

Here is a link to an article about Palin and Mining in Alaska. I'm not knowledgeable enough to comment on the merits of the case for mining or not mining, though I'm inclined to side with protecting the environment which the proposed legislation was designed to do.

What I found interesting is that Palin, like McCain, "suspended" her role as Governor in order to express her personal opinion that the initiative should be defeated in favor of the mining people.
She said something about taking her Governor's hat off in order to express her "personal" opinion.

A critic observed that the position of Governor is not a costume which you can wear or not wear as it suits you. You're either the Governor or you're not.

Last week McCain decided he was not a candidate for President, by "suspending" his campaign in order to parachute into DC to save the day for the "unimperiled" as Gene Washington of WaPo pithily observed. In other words he, like Palin, took off his Candidate hat in order to say, do, be whatever he thought he needed to embrace for political purposes.

I like the costume reference, and with these two, clearly theirs is a clown suit.
