Rovian Tactics Ride Again

Here's a classic example of the kind of tactics employed by the McCain campaign. It comes right out of the Rove play book, which Steve Schmidt, Rove's protege and McCain's campaign chairman, now coaches from.

In this Washington Monthly piece Obama is labeled a hypocrite. Anyone who ever tried to cross a Rove backed politician has always been hit with the very same accusations of which the politician-accuser is clearly guilty.

The hands down champ of hypocrisy in this campaign is McCain himself, as evidenced again by his phony claims and posturing; the most recent being the holier than thou "suspension" of his campaign last week, and his grand standing in DC. As Eugene Washington of WaPo wrote, he dramatically parachuted into Washington to "save the unimperiled".

It was a cynical attempt to take credit for fixing the Wall Street mess which he helped create through his long standing opposition to regulating the financial industry, leaving the Wall Street con men to play the game without referees or umpires, at the expense of Americans and others who must count on having honest fiduciaries handling their savings and investments.

In the absence of authorities as watchdogs stores are looted in devastating storms, and investors are fleeced in an unregulated market.

Hypocrisy, thy name is McCain.
