A Voice Crying In The Wilderness? Perhaps Not

Here is an essay which could too easily be dismissed as the rantings of a wingnut. But what the author says should be considered seriously, discussed openly and kept in sharp and continued focus. Americans need to be alert, wary and vigilant.

It shouldn't be lost on anyone that Naomi Wolf identifies herself as a True Conservative. And, she counsels, "This is not a liberal nightmare".

I wrote about this subject in a post dated October 8, 2008 entitled "Unspoken Fear" when I saw the article about the US Army Brigade soon to be activated within our own borders, the President as their Commander in Chief. This is not the National Guard under the command of the state governors.

I urge you to Google "Posse Comitatus Act" and read a few of the referenced links. It's most enlightening.

Also, on October 9, 2008 I posted a link to a video entitled "Fascists Are Us". It too lists signals and events of which we should be keenly aware and concerned.

It's too easy to dismiss the writers of such warnings and cautions as Alarmists, especially in view of the power grabs of the current administration over the course of the past eight years and the fact that we have fought four wars since WWII which haven't been declared by Congress. It's not only creepy, but it's creeping.

Consider the Unitary Executive Doctrine which the Bush/Cheney and Co. cabal has been slowly but steadily implementing. It's a far right interpretation of the Constitution which gives the President essentially unlimited and unchecked power in time of war.

These neo-cons have cleverly gotten Congress to support a war on terrorism which, by definition, has no limit as to time, place or enemy. Terrorism will always be with us. There can be no such thing as victory in spite of the fear mongering rhetoric coming from Washington, Senator McCain and The Joker from Alaska, Sarah Falstaff.

McCain is supposed to carry on this subterfuge in the name of patriotism and Country First. Don't be fooled. He is a soldier by genes, memes, family background and training. Listen to his words carefully. He told a woman who shouted out that Obama is an Arab that he didn't want to dampen her "ferocity", but that she should be "respectful". He says he's ready to "do battle" on day one. These are the words of That One who shoots first and asks questions later. He must be kept out of the White House.

But that in itself is not enough to stop the insidious movement toward a time when those in power are set on ruling not governing. Americans must confront members of Congress who accept donations from the neo-cons of the military/industrial complex. That money is spent with the expectation that it will grease the palms of those who can and will use their influence to support the donors' often nefarious agendas. Americans must remind, even threaten these politicians, that they can and will be thrown out of office by the voters, if not actually recalled.

I know, I know; this is a lot to expect of the voters, most of whom elect people so they, the voters, can get on with their own lives and leave the governing to the politicians.

We've seen recently though that when the voters get slapped upside the head, as in the current financial meltdown, it gets their attention. Articles like the one linked to here can serve as that kind of wake up call to this most insidious threat.
